Tony - I wasn't exactly sure why it was needed at first either, but every post I could find on the net said there was an adapter from GM that was needed to screw a 700R4 to a 4.8/5.3/6.0 Vortec. So I figured if everyone else needed one, I had better plan on getting one too!
