Yep swapping out for a flex fan or fan that doesn't run the fan clutch. Just don't get one of those thin tapered blade "racing" fans though as they don't pull enough air even though they fit in close spaces.
Personally I would prefer a good 4 or 5 blade fan that came off a production rig rather than the aftermarket stainless or fiberglass flex fans. That might be hard to find in the diameter you need though.
