Re: replacement 87 gmc gas lines

Welcome aboard, i was a gmc dealer mechanic from 89-97 and remember the lines pretty well. Pics of the flex area will finalize my memory as what style you have. Inline tube has almost any line you need and can make special lines if needed. The shipping would probably be expensive because of the final length. When i put a 2001 5.3 in my 68 i made my own lines with flex areas built into them. I used 3/8' supply brake steel lines, 5/16" return steel lines, brass adapters to connect lines end to end, Barb ends to transition to fuel injection specific hoses and fuel injection specific hose clamps. The adapters were made by a company called edelmann carquest efi specific hoses and clamps, carquest steel brake lines. I special ordered in 6' lengths of lines because i didn't want to unspool a 25' roll and end up with slight ripples in the lines. I used a stock gm fuel filter from your application for my project. This is an oring style connection at the filter. I have the mastercool hydraulic flaring tool to do all of the fitting ends i needed but you can just purchase power steering or fuel filter repair ends (up to 20") and terminate using unions. I purchased quality bending tools from ebay years ago and bent everything myself. Some guys use AN fittings but i refuse to because a friend drag races a duster and is plagged with fuel leaks using AN fittings. After 30 plus years living up in the salty north working at dealerships and not having issues with oem fuel lines (huge liability risk for the oems) except rusting out. I didn't want to risk my life from a fuel leak/fire etc. My way isn't the most popular or the most pretty (no purple, blue, etc color fittings) but no leaks win out with me. I gladly will use the oem engineers thinking as they are held to safety, liability, emissions standards to my advantage. Good luck, Brian F.
