Yes, the opening on the left was used for either a vacuum or air pressure gauge. The vacuum gauge was available in the medium duty trucks with vacuum assisted hydraulic brakes and the air pressure gauge was used in trucks equipped with air brakes.
The opening on the right was used for the tachometer which was an available option in everything from 1/2 tons up into the medium/heavy trucks.
