So back on the question,

I would keep the one piece case, no advantage of installing the 2 piece case IMO.....the one piece case can be built the same internally as the two piece case.

Beware of the Safety neutral switches are different that are on the linkage...
In 1998 the release of the LS engine, which flexplate was redsigned to fit the 2 piece case, TC hub that fits into the crank maybe different as well, no expert here but just listing items to be aware of before spending money on something that may cost more than its worth, Thanks......
