I took today and took my oldest daughter out in the shop for some father/daughter time. She said she wanted to build a car, toy car that is. She wanted to build a "mater". She hasn't had much hands on yet due to air tools etc. But she said she wants to paint it.
As I was making it, it dawned on me this would be a great exercise for those that want to learn how to work with metal, but are scared to cut on their truck. There are a lot of the same steps involved and will get you some experience working with metal. Anyway here's what we have done thus far.
Took a toy apart for the wheels and axles.
I cut out the rear wheel opening.
I had to notch out so the tires could fit.
It want be sitting this low, she wants it to sit up normal. I like it low. This is the way it is now. I've got to cut out the engine bay, make the frame, bed floor and wrecker frame and cable. We will see how it turns out.
