I'd be afraid to bang on all the studs to get them out, and then use the impact to pull the new ones in. You run the risk of spinning the stud and then you're in trouble. Plus, if I recall correctly from doing my own studs, I dont remember there being enough room to get the old studs out the back and then the new longer studs in without pulling the axle out some. On mine, I just accepted that I had to pull the axles and ended up using a sleeve I made to press the studs out and in.
