I can't say one way or the other, I honestly don't like the fake patina look, don't get it, just don't get it. So I can't say how to do it well, just like I can't sing very well but could tell you when Adele hits a bad note (if that were to ever happen.)

I am sorry, I don't get it, I just don't get it. A virgin original cool old car or truck with funky paint, yep I get it and I love seeing it. A fake aged car, I don't get it.
