that's all I run is sbc 400's! I only use the 509 castings blocks which are 2 bolt mains. I like using 5'7 rods. The one I built for my 71 2.02 76 chamber heads and a small comp cam with a air gap manifold with a speed demon carb. It benched at about 425 hp with loads of bottom end. I think the 509 blocks are designed different than the 511 4 bolt main ones. I have never had a heating problem with one.
