well ok it is done. to have the 2 piece disassembled and shortened would be $150.and I would need a new center bearing and some u joints. to shorten a 1piece is $80 but I had to go to a salvage yard and pick one out of a van full for $75 + u joints.
and then there is a new one 3.5 inch with new yokes and u joints ready to install for $250 + tax. so in just over 2 hours I have a new one. had to remove the center support bracket but I think I'm good
