So rather than use conventional mounts off the frame rails, I decided to fabricate some vertical motor mounts upward from my OEM MII crossmember. They solved my interference problem, they're well triangulated for strength, and I think they're kinda graceful-looking too! Will finish weld them after the motor comes back out from its trial fit.
