Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 wrecker, fire, ambulance, etc?

What a trip down memory lane! My first wrecker was an 80 GMC k30 with I believe a Vulcan twin line, sling and an add-on wheel lift. 350/sm465. Then a 81 k20 with a slide-in wrecker unit with electric winch and sling, just like the one in that yellow truck a couple pages back (love that truck!). That truck caught fire while plowing, destroyed it but the wrecker body found it's way into a 73 or so k30 srw. Used to leave the plow on all winter because it helped keep the front wheels on the ground when you towed anything bigger than an Escort.
Place I worked used to have a 69 Autocar single-screw with a Holmes 750 and a big 2 stroke Detroit. That truck was finally retired, and along with several other heavy wreckers they now have a $600,000 Kenworth that is the most beautiful wrecker I've ever seen.
Sad that Ford seems to have controlled the 1 ton utility truck market for some time now. Lot more f350 wreckers than Silverados, at least in my area. And all the FD forestry/utility trucks are Fords.
