Along with the cables don't forget there is a 1/4" support rod running forward at an angle to the RH frame where it begins to curve upwards at about the rear cab corner. There are also a couple of brackets that the cable to the brakes run through. The E brake forward cable attaches to one bracket from the left and the support rod attaches to the other from the right. Consider the cable to the brakes in a U and the E brake cable tugging from one side of the U and the rod from the other. Sure looks a lot simpler than the 65 set up but you would need the right parts.
