Here are the two braces sitting in place to test the fit:

And this horrible picture is after welding in the braces and getting a good coat of paint on them, battery tray in place but not welded (you may notice that I already drilled holes in the tray where my spot welds will end up):
I hope to get the tray welded in and the whole mess painted next weekend. I have enough scheduled already that I may not get time to work on it at all.
