Moving the cable further from the pivot point will give it more leverage to work on opening the throttle and will require less effort at the peddle. Think of it like putting a cheater bar on your ratchet. You have more leverage with the cheater bar because you are further from the pivot point.

Make sure you keep two springs on the return, even of you do need to change them for lighter springs. There are two in case one breaks.
