Re: Please define what is a SUPER trucK?

Yes, I know this thread is from '07. I fell upon it searching for another thread. We've come a long way baby! This info is common knowledge on this site today. Looking back at threads like this are like looking at Facebook today. Makes me wonder why so many left here for there. I guess for non truck related reasons.

Super Custom was the same level as Custom Deluxe in 71/72. Sierra was the same as Cheyenne and Sierra Grande was same as Cheyenne Super. The base level was Custom, same as Chevy.

Before that, in '67, '68, and early '69 Super Custom was top trim level option and Custom was mid-level. The base trim I believe was referred to as Standard, with no emblems on fender. GMC was ahead of Chevy with adding the Sierra and Sierra Grande trim level in later '69 and were on top of the Custom and Super Custom Package, in the same lower to higher order. Those trucks had both trim level shown, Custom on Fender and Sierra on bedside, and same way with Super Custom/Sierra Grande. I'm a bit unclear if anyone has light to shed on this. You see, their emblems did not necessarily state the trim level correctly. The 67/68 Super Customs just had Custom on the emblems and there was also a larger Custom script fender emblem seldom seen. The '67 Super Custom fender emblem was the "shark gill" one year only emblem with 'custom' in script. In '68-'72 the same style fender emblems were used with trim level shown. But no Sierra or Sierra Grande shown until those became their own stand-alone trim levels in '71.

Let's get this worked out once and for all. The GMCs deserve and accurate breakdown on what and when with trim levels
