No - the paint shop is a self contained area of the plant.
Hoods are painted either hanging vertically from the forward edge, or laying flat in vehicle position (with the fenders on either side) in front of the body on a paint buck/fixture.
In fact, at Flint Assembly, the cab and pickup box were painted at one end of the plant and the front end sheetmetal (hoods and fenders) were painted at the other end of the plant.
(sidebar - Relative to Buicks built in Flint - the bodies were built on the north end of town at Fisher Body, and the front clip was painted south of town at the assembly plant).
