Not that I have to worry about rubbing off paint (lol), but mine isn't going to touch anything unless I twisted it down there for some reason. You can cinch down the mounting brackets so it doesn't move around when you don't want it to.
I think I would have been less nervous drilling a '64. I don't think you have to go through the dashboard and worry about all those radical angles like you do on these curved windshield dudes.
