Aluminum/silver paint needs a clear coat so that it does not smudge when touched and handled.

I have blasted and repainted mine twice now, using two different types of rattle can aluminum colored enamel, and I'm still not 100% happy with it. I don't mind the extra gloss on mine, but it takes 100 years to cure and seems pretty easy to discolor when handling it.
