I have luck by plug welding a flatwasher to the broken bolt n then tackweld a nut on in place and then plug welding that mainly cause you can see the broken bolt and get a good well to it with washer then can weld nut solid to washer easier than to small bolt...I've just found this to work for me as working on big trucks every day I run into broken bolts often
