Here is my stock engine before I did a cam, carb, and manifold swap. It is a 1967 327ci. As you can see, the valve covers are plain. The breather connects from a fitting on the back of the block to the base of the stock carb. The breather filter is in the cap of the oil filler tube. There is also a canister in the lifter valley under the intake that connects to the fitting on the back of the block. I assume the canister is a baffle of some kind so that liquid oil does not get sucked into the breather. I have photos of the whole setup if anyone is interested.
