Your trans pan doesn't have to be level. Typically the engine and trans is lower in the rear. IIRC it is about 4 degrees down to the rear. Your trans output shaft needs to be at the same angle as the pinion shaft on your rear end.
now I do not know the rule with injection. but with a carburated engine did not the carb mounting flange (manifold) sit level and the crank drop at a about 3-4 degree angle down towards the back. the pinion centreline would be in the same plane with perhaps a 1 degree or so discrepancy.
