Darker metallic colors are easier to spray than lighter ones. I would use a base coat clearcoat as you can lay the color on with multiple light coats till covered and then spray your clear. 3 medium coats of clear will sand and buff to a nice shine. Trying to lay paint on real wet while learning will create runs that are difficult to sand out.

Nice looking truck doesn't look to need paint in the pic.
