That's back yard hack. No reputable professional restoration shop would do this.
The BEST way, keep filling the pinholes. Grind, sand, file, etc. Blast off any remaining silicon slag. Then epoxy. If there are any microscopic holes remaining, fill with a dab of epoxy. Then use a quality filler. The repair will be waterproof from the backside.
