Have a just bought 90 chev truck, starter worked intermittently, thought it was the neutral start switch. Stopped working all together, power to starter, can hear the solenoid working, will not turn over. Pulled starter bench tested it and it turns over. Used jumper cable to starter from power wire in truck to the starter and it spins. Put it back in truck will not turn over. Not sure of what to check next. Could this be a gone bad starter? It was an $800 Can truck, missing one exhaust doughnut and the other was so loose it was leaking as much as the missing one
could this have damaged starter?
