Whats funny is I actually went from owning a 1986 Ram D-150 to a 1990 454SS. What a difference that was! I loved the old '72 to '93 Dodge trucks, but they were clearly from a different era compared to the 400's. I was working for a large utility fleet in 1988 when they got their first 400 series trucks. The first time I drove one I remember how well it rode and handled, very quiet and great visibility. You could literally feel that the chassis was far stiffer than any other full size light truck available at the time. I was also around when they got their first 1990 530 series Topkick. That truck was equally advanced compared to other medium duty trucks when it came out.
