You were right! (lol).

I'm waiting on parts, so here are a few pics of some "busywork" I did last night:

Painted the radiator support and bumper brackets black. (This is a Krylon "Satin" paint. I had previously used a Krylon "Semi Flat" - I like them both).







I threw the old grille back on temporarily (waiting on new stainless trim) so the parking lights would not be swinging in the breeze; later in the evening I also re-installed the front bumper for (hopefully) the last time!
