I'm in the "love patina" camp as well.

My Burb has lost the paint in a few places, the clear coat is about gone and the tailgate paint is all crinkled up along with the dealer sticker. And it's going to stay that way.

To the OP - If patina is what you like then keep it and enjoy it. You'll appreciate not having to worry about scratching the paint if you take it out wheeling. Let the naysayers spend their days with wax and a buffer while you're out cruising and enjoying a classic!
