i just replaced my cable this summer.what a relief
i bought a new cable and some napa white light grease that a mechanic told me about.and it worked for me.the mechanic also told me of case's where the cable sheath get's grooved inside and cause's problem's.so it maybe a good idea to change both.i just did the cable.mine was more than obvious,right where it goes into spedometer it was fraying.
