Moving the ring closer will make the pattern a little deeper . Could also move the pattern a little closer to the toe . Just set it to where it is in the middle of the spec of the gear set and see what it does .
I am a little confused . Is this a new gear set . No need to change anything on a existing gear set that is installed and run . Use the same pinion shim and set back lash with in spec .
Heres a write up and should give you all the info you need . There is things in there that you will not need to do .
