On other thing, probably not your issue but cheap insurance. I rebuilt a small block once. Distributor was fine when I tore the engine down. I put it back together and just changed the cap and rotor. After the rebuild it ran great until I hit a hill and then it would bog. I changed out the advance and springs in the distributor and bam it was running awesome. They did not look bad but something was going on with them
