If it were me, I wouldn't melt it off with a torch, I would probably feel the shock wave in Philadelphia, better to cut neck off with a hammer and chisel, then use tin snips once the hole has been started

There was a thread on here a long time ago about a guy trying to resolder his float bowl, it didn't go well, but was very funny, since he didn't get hurt
