I believe that late 40s Cadillac cars could be ordered with power windows that operated from a central hydraulic system. The system also operated the power seat (forwards and back only), and the power top on convertibles. There was a hydraulic fluid reservoir mounted on the firewall, and lines to provide pressure to the cylinders throughout the car.

The windows and seats operated with hydraulics pushing one way, and springs doing the return action.

Very quiet operation, but leaks could do major damage to the interior.
