Your right. Take note people who are doing restoration work and the sorts, a good plan is to align doors BEFORE paint work. I like to remove the fender, then replace any worn hinge parts/striker, then align and when satisfied, mark with a sharp awl two places on where the hinge meets the door frame. Then disassemble to your hearts content knowing your reassembly will be smooth and straight forward.
