The 88+ wheels aren't bad. A 70s Camaro 4 spoke works. Better is same wrapped in leather and some rubber. I've never found a reliable aftermarket wheel and did the extra work. Leather from wheelskins.com or something like that.

Collapsing the column is cutting the collapsible bit of the lower section of the column before the gear. The important part is to save the collapsible length while shortening. The idea is that in a front crash, you aren't impaled by the steering shaft.
