I've wondered if modern trim adhesive used for badging would work on our old style fastener-based deluxe trim.

Here's the question though:

Our trim is very narrow. The gap behind it is maybe 1/2" wide by less-than-that-deep. How would you attach your "spacer" - the lexan in your example - into this gap?

I'm thinking you make a stack of trim-to-VHB-to-lexan-to-VHB-to-body sandwich so it wouldn't show once installed. And you could only do this on the long straight portions, not the curves portions. Anyone have another idea how to do it?
