Re: Looking for tips / recommendations on 350 build.

You are going to get a few differing opinions on what to do. First you should take as look at what it is going to cost in your area for all the machine work plus parts to completely rebuild a 350. In some parts of the country it is cheaper to simply buy a GM crate 350 engine. If I were in your situation I would look for a '96-'02 L31 Vortec 350 to build. Going this route gets you the best small block production head made, plus you have the ability to run a factory roller cam. With compression of 9.3-9.4 and this cam, you will have a good reliable torquey small block.

Of course you will need the Vortec specific intake manifold, a 600cfm carb and a HEI distributor.

This is the basic engine I am talking about except with a carb instead of the EFI.
