I think CaptainFab nailed it for you, I feel you would spend that sort of money and effort rebuilding one you pieced together...

There use to be a SBC offered which cost around 1500 bucks, mostly stock and offered into older vehicles. Summit or Jegs use to sell them but I did not see them listed....Good Luck in whatever you decide and have fun !!!!!
