I appreciate all the feedback. Assuming I went the route of the Vortec but do not want to buy a crate engine, what truck / engine would I be aiming for from a parts yard? I can get engine machine work done for close to nothing and I enjoy putting things together myself. My father has a 02' GMC Sierra 2500 HD with a 6 liter Vortec and that thing still runs like a clock after a quarter million miles, so I could see them being reliable engines. Just curious as to what donor to look for.
