I'd check to see if a 60 to 62 Starter for a GMC with a 270 would bolt on.

Probably the simple thing is to check the part number on a flywheel ring gear for a 59 270 and one for a 62 or 63 270 and see if they are the same.

Rock auto says that the 168 tooth pioneer Frg168T fits -
GMC 1000 SERIES 1961-1962
GMC 1500 SERIES 1961-1962
GMC 2500 SERIES 1961-1962
GMC TRUCK 1956-1960
Please refer to catalog for application details.

That's a good sign if you have a pickup and not a 2 ton.

You may be able to use a 60/62 235 starter too.
