Yeah, that can certainly be done! The windings get varnish and other crap on them and you lose the electrical pathway due to the resistance. The moving contact can have the same problem.
I was hoping to avoid any problems (geeze!), so I installed brand new senders in both tanks. I still think my problem is forward of the tank switching valve,...everything rearward of it is new.
My friggin' '88 F**D has the same problem,...guage works at certain levels, but not throughout the entire range,...I just use it's trip odometer. When FRANKENTRUCK is done, I'll be selling the POS Br*nco.

My wife and I have been SCUBA divers for MANY years! Myself since '72! We do get a bit roudy though, so you may hear about us if we do! BTW, what's that little yellow fellow smoking?! Todd.
