Brad54 - thanks for the advice, I'll look at switching to an HEI ignition and double check which fan I have.
Clyde65 - you're right always good to have AAA, first thing i did after getting my c10 was get it with the RV coverage & 100 mile towing.
Further question. since I'll be towing should I install a transmission cooler?
I've never towed anything before & I will be going thru mountains at various points. Planning on having some lightweight belongings in the bed under the shell, probably less than 150lbs worth, between that & an estimated 200lb tongue weight for the trailer, my 110lb mastiff plus weight of the shell I don't think that'll overload my half ton springs or strain the transmission too much - i hope.
