I would not keep the factory Y pipe. You should use small tube diameter long tube headers if you can. 1.75 inch tube will flow nice. Or you can use a set of intermediate length headers. The 1.5 inch tubing lends some extra space.

I am in the process of redoing my exhaust right now. I had bought a set of long tube headers but they won't fit the truck right cause at some point this thing was in an accident and things just don't line up on the passenger side quite right. I think it's due to the engine mount.

Anyway the smaller tube works well to add some torque to the program. I have a thread going on my exhaust system on here now and will update it as I progress this weekend.
