Got it worked out just today. Found a Kent Moore booster rod gauge tool on Ebay. Made the job very easy. Ended up adjusting the rod in about 1/8". My rod was threaded so it was easy to adjust. Have test drove it twice without issues. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
