Re: 64 Alternator/Wiring Problems.. Help.. Please..

Since I already bought the alternator, I ended up replacing the voltage reg because I opened up the old one, it was fried.. I also cleaned up the connectors on the voltage reg harness.

So.. I'm still getting 12.2V at the battery.. I'm also getting 10v from "F" at the voltage regulator.

The next chance I'll get to work on it will proably be Saturday.

Next, I'll run new wires from the voltage reg to the alt.

Does anyone know what wires should go where?? Here's what the wiring diagram indicates and what I've done... Dark Blue wire = "F" on the voltage reg to "F" on the alternator. "F" is on the right side closest to "+" on the alternator. White wire = "2" on the voltage reg to "R" on the alternator. "R" is on the left side closest to the ground. Red wire = "3" on the voltage reg to the horn relay, then to "+" on the alternator. "+" on the alternator has a red bushing and is on the right side. Brown wire = "4" on the voltage reg to the harness that goes into the cab. Gound, on the left side of the alternator, to ground.

Thanks for the help so far..

Elias
