I believe that last pic is just a brace. I have had to remove them on a couple of trucks that I've been into lately , sandblast all the pieces separately , and use grade 8 fasteners to bolt it all back together after repairing & painting both sides to help it not rust again. Have not seen any issues with this
The guys on the board must think we're nuts in the rust belt , that truck you have isn't all that bad for up here!
