Lots of different starters out there. The nose of the starter is the problem I'm guessing. Ran into this on my camaro. Took the starter that came with my car to a shop that rebuilds them. When it came time to install it same problem. Luckily enough I figured out what nose I needed and they looked around in there shop and found one. Cost an extra 20.00 but I was glad I didn't have to start over with a complete different starter
