Did someone say micro-manage? On that golf course job, not only did my buddy have us (not me!) lay out the first plate that didn't need any marks, he insists that you use the framing square, mark both sides, make an X from corners to corners using either a Sharpie or a red pencil. That is how he always does it. Does this give you any idea what it would be like to work with him? beyond micro-manage >>
I mark the edge facing up where you can see the marks and he doesn't allow that. On good work I also use a combination square set to the width of the plate to give a square mark. On fast and furious jobs I just eyeball that because after 45 years I can "eyeball" square
