The gear box is mounted to a boxed frame section on adapter plate's from CPP .It must of flexed. Now I have installed a longer grade 8 bolt thru the old threaded area on the casting of gear box and torqued her down.All part's on the steering are new though the gear box was a reman.

I went back and looked at your picture and it made sense then
For whatever reason I didn't see it as the mounting tab for the box. I guess I am getting old.
