Bill - just going back to this comment from a while ago:
The peeling/flaking is absolutely sun related. The UV light penetrates the paint and causes delamination, with lighter colors being most problematic. That's why you usually see the peeling occurring on white trucks.
Having said that - a black truck that has been kept inside should be fine.
